COOL DOUBLE FOSSIL FISH PLATE: KNIGHTIA: GREEN RIVER FORMATION, WYOMING - NR!

Its time to clean out some space in the stock room and recently I discovered a flat of fossil fish that I got many years ago from my old friend Robert DeJong.  Robby had one of the fossil fish quarry leases in Wyoming for many years and I probably got these from him 15 years or so ago.  Unfortunately Robby has passed since then, he was a very fine human being and I learned a lot from him and sold hundreds of his fossil fish over the past 30+ years.
Here is a fine classic fossil fish plate from the world famous Green Fiver Formation near Kemmerer, Lincoln & Uinta Counties, Wyoming USA.  These fossils are from the Eocene and are between 30 and 50 million years old, and this is a specimen of the species Knightia, an ancient herring-like fish.  This is a double plate that has one mostly complete fish and then a second fish that is about 50% complete and is missing the head end.   The fish have been fossilized on a thin cream-tan colored limestone plate measuring roughly 6.75 x 4 inches in size and between 1/4 and 3/8 inch thick.  It weighs 6.5 ounces, and the larger fossil fish measures 4.5 x 1.6 inches in size.  The half fish measures 2.75 x 1.3 inches.
